What is a HETAS Approved Retailer?

The Stove Yard Cheshire is a Hetas Approved Retailer and we are pleased to say that we were an early adopter of the scheme (unfortunately, the scheme is not yet recognised in Northern Ireland). 

Hetas is the organisation recognised by the Government to approve multi fuel stoves and wood burners, fuels and services including the registration of competent installers. They established the Hetas Approved Retailer certification in 2011 so that anyone wishing to purchase a stove could be directed to retailers who meet high standards for service quality – including expert installation and safety advice. 

As a Hetas Approved Retailer, all of our showroom staff at The Stove Yard Cheshire, as well as those at the The Stove Yard Co Down, have undergone the appropriate training so that they can provide you with the correct advice to ensure that you get the stove that's right for you and that you can make the most of it. This includes recommending the correct size of stove for your room and taking measures to ensure that you have an understanding of the importance of your new stove's safe installation, operation and maintenance, amongst a range of other advice. In addition this advice will aways be based on the latest regulations and current best practice since The Stove Yard are also represented on both the Hetas Technical Committee and the Hetas Installation Committee which contribute significantly to work for continuous improvement in these areas.

Hetas supports us in this aim by supplying us with a range of advice sheets which you can obtain free by visiting The Stove Yard or downloading them here. Finally, when you visit us, you will find that each stove display is clearly labelled with like-for-like information including both net and gross efficiencies, manufacturer's warranty, kilowatt output and key benefits so that it is very easy for you, at a glance, to make an informed comparison.

Now there's a new retail organisation...

A new voluntary scheme for retailers was launched by the Stove Industry Alliance (SIA) in June 2019. The SIA Retail Group, as it is known, will provide retailers with a means of communicating and providing feedback to the SIA to enable the industry to show a united front and deliver informed and unified messages to the government, public and press about the benefits of stoves as well as countering any negative press, such as the recent damaging claims that stoves were going to be banned. This was wholly untrue by the way. Although The Stove Yard are not members of the SIA Retail Group we are founding members of the SIA itself and are also represented on their influential SIA Technical Committee. Again this allows us to keep our customers abreast of developments within the industry and counter factually inaccurate reporting – straight from the horses mouth, exactly the same as if we were SIA Retail Group members.
