26.11.14 Not as good as we were

The World Energy Council, which rates countries based on how they manage the security, affordability and environmental sustainability of their energy, says that apparently, we're still at the front of the pack when it comes to these things, but that it's not all good news. The UK is still heavily reliant on CO2-producing fossil fuels for example – it's currently 71% of our energy mix, and they're not happy about our high energy pricing (join the club). The real cause for their concern though is our energy security which is on a downward trend and which has really suffered this year from the closure of three power supply plants and four nuclear reactors, some of them unscheduled.
