With a nominal output of just 3.7kW the Defra approved Charnwood Aire 3 wood stove is one of the very latest designs from the UK’s premier stove brand and has been specifically designed for modern well-insulated homes as well as the burgeoning off-grid market for yurts, shepherd huts, cabins and garden offices. Like anything to do with Charnwood the Aire 3 is very well considered and beautifully executed from the subtle detailing on the discreet cast door handle to the ultra-low emissions combustion system. This also delivers an impressive 86% A+ rated efficiency – one of the highest for any Ecodesign stove that we’ve seen and remember this is combined with minimal emissions.
The Aire 3 features Charnwood’s patented single push-pull control Quattroflow combustion air management system which provides you with optimal regulation of its 1.5kW to 5.0kW heat output range as well as a marvellous flame picture. With heat starting at a miserly 1.5kW this should make the Aire 3 a serious consideration for installation in smaller spaces where a little heat will go a long way and of course when its unbelievably cold its 5.0kW maximum should be more than enough for the average living space.
The most striking feature of the Charnwood Aire 3 is its larger than average air washed window and minimal design lines which ensure that it will look great whatever the style of fireplace or home interior its installed in. The Air 3 is constructed from premium grade plate steel and has a precision cast iron door and plinth or store stand facia. It has direct external air supply (DEAS) capability as well as a convenient in-out sliding fire grate for easy cleaning and can easily take logs up to a maximum length of 250mm (10”). The Aire 3 can also be placed on a non-combustible 12mm hearth (subject to building regulations).
Apart from the standard black finish you can choose from 7 other designer colours. If you have the room there’s also the store stand option which increases the Air 3’s overall height from 500mm to 610mm – unfortunately this can’t be retrofitted. Specifying Charnwood’s rear heat shield option, which when combined with twin wall flue pipe, will significantly reduce the safe distance to combustible materials from 250mm to just 100mm. This along with the space-saving vertical rear flue adaptor can provide you with more installation options.
