The Defra approved Charnwood Aire 5 is just about as good as a 5kW stove currently gets in terms of its high efficiency and low emissions as well as its subtle design lines and superior build quality. It has an excellent A+ rated efficiency of 84% combined with exceptional emissions-cutting performance which has been independently verified by the clearSkies mark and awarded Level 5, the best there is, and well beyond the tough Ecodesign criteria.
Charnwood's single push / pull control Quattroflow Air Management System ensures that the Aire 5 is not only easy to quickly light and operate but that it will also provide you with precise control over the fire's burn rate and running costs. It has a practical heat output range between 2kW and 7kW, depending on the fuel load, making it comfortable to live with virtually all year round. Charnwood give you a choice of the standard low plinth or the 155mm higher integrated store stand option with both models being suitable for use on a 12mm hearth. The Aire 5 has in-built direct external air supply (DEAS) capability with a 79mm diameter inlet as standard. All you need is the non-combustible ducting and grille. It's worth noting that although the Aire 5 is Defra approved and 5kW, unusually it features a150mm / 6" top or rear flue outlet and not the typical125mm / 5" flue outlet.
The first thing that you notice about the British-made Charnwood Aire 5 when you compare it to other 5kW stoves is just how big its window is and the attention to detail in the design and construction, for example the beautifully considered and co-ordinated cool-to-touch handle and discrete combustion air control. Like all Charnwood stoves, the Aire 5 has a premium quality plate steel body with cast iron door and a very effective air wash system to keep the glass clean. It also has a slide out ash pan for easier cleaning. Options include a rear heat shield which, when used with insulated twin wall flue pipe, can reduce the distance to combustible materials at the rear to just 100mm, a space-saving vertical rear flue adaptor and a choice of eight colours.
