Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill

Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill and Smoker – The full size Traeger flavour in a compact portable design

The Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill and smoker already has a huge number of fans in the USA, where the locals quickly embraced it to make it the number one outdoor choice – just check out the enthusiasm they have for this great bit of kit on YouTube as well as their great recipe ideas. You can count The Stove Yard as one of the Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill's biggest fans as well.

The Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill compares very favourably with its bigger brothers in the Traeger collection, so even though it's a portable barbecue the Traeger Ranger still gives you virtually all of the renowned Traeger Pellet features and benefits including the ultimate one: convenience. With its robust 'black 'flight case' outer, big grab handle and securing latches it will make a great travelling companion for caravanners and especially campers – in fact anyone on the move who has access to electric power.

The Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill's big cooking plus, is that it gives you easy starting every time and then with minimum effort delivers all of the wood fired flavour that makes cooking with wood so wonderful. It's simply so much better than gas and much more controllable than regular barbecues. The user-friendly control panel allows you to set your desired temperature precisely with the up/down buttons in 5 degree increments in either Celsius or Fahrenheit up to 230ºC (450ºF) to make it hot enough for searing. There's a Keep Warm feature which maintains the temperature at 74ºC which can be used to pause the cooking cycle at any point during grilling to keep food that has already been cooked warm and moist until it's ready to be eaten – something else you're not going to get on the average barbecue.

A handy automatic Count Down mode burns off any unused pellets in the fire chamber at the end of the cooking session and there's a convenient timer which can be used to notify you of various preparation stages, such as basting or loading vegetables, without the grill's operation being disrupted. There's also an integrated meat temperature probe to ensure perfectly cooked meat every time.

People say the Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill is bigger than it looks and it's hard to disagree. It has a good-sized cooking area (0.12m2 / 184 sq in) to cope with a variety of cooking styles which can be used with the porcelain coated open grill or the bonus pre-seasoned cast iron griddle plate with its even heat distribution, both of which come as standard. The high height between the grill and lid allows you to fit a whole good-sized chicken in – two in fact. It will also handle 6 large burgers, 10 hot dogs or a rack of ribs – enough food for four to six people. You can also choose from a wide variety of subtle wood pellet flavours, including apple and hickory, to take your food to another level. All of the heat used to cook the food in the Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill is indirect and the fat and juices produced fall on to a full-sized drip tray that safely routes them to an external grease bucket thus eliminating annoying and potentially dangerous flare-ups and fireballs often associated with other barbecues.

Since its launch in the US in 2019 the Traeger Ranger Portable Pellet Grill has more than proven its worth. Now we too have an exceptional portable pellet-fired grill that's more than a match for anything else available here, portable or not, and of course you also get all of the remarkable Traeger back-up with their superb customer care, incredible recipes and enthusiastic fan input. As long as you have a power source the Ranger can go anywhere you go and will cook delicious food as sophisticated as you like. We love it because it does everything that you want it to and for us at The Stove Yard that makes the Traeger Ranger the ultimate Portable Pellet Grill.
