Charnwood ISLAND I

CHARNWOOD ISLAND I MULTI FUEL STOVE

The simple timeless styling of the double-door Charnwood Island I belies just how sophisticated this brilliant little 5kW multi fuel stove is. The Island I has a top A+ rated efficiency of 85% with incredibly low emissions that have not only earned it Defra smoke exempt status, which will allow you to legally burn wood in a smoke control area, but it has also been awarded the highest Level 5 in the independently verified ClearSkies emissions and efficiency scheme. This scheme helps identify stoves that go even further than the tough new Ecodesign emissions requirements.

If you’re looking for a stove to provide a big visual presence, but with a highly controllable and practical heat output range between 2 and 7kW ideally suited for a small to medium sized living space then you really can’t go wrong with the all-British Charnwood Island I. Weighing in at a staggering 109kg (approx 17 stone) for the low plinth model you can be sure that the Island I is a stove that’s been extremely well built with a wonderful attention to detail. For example there’s just one cool touch handle for both doors which makes it very easy to close and secure both doors with just one gloved hand. If you’ve ever tried this on any other stove with double doors then you’ll appreciate how just much easier the designers at Charnwood have made this. They’ve also given you a particularly large air washed glass area with which to view the flames.

Controlling the Island I couldn’t be easier too, whether you’re burning wood or approved smokeless coal. Charnwood’s user friendly single control Quattroflow air management system will deliver the correct amount of combustion air from above and below the cast iron fire grate to ensure quicker starting fires and effective and efficient clean combustion throughout the burn cycle, while at the same time maintaining a clear view of the fire. The Island I has a genuine multi fuel fire grate with separate ash pan. This can be closed for wood or opened for coal, as well as be externally riddled to clear coal ash, and will handle 400mm (16”) logs with no problem.

The Island I can be installed on a 12mm non-combustible decorative hearth and has an optional space-saving adaptor for vertical rear flues. There’s also an optional rear heat shield which will significantly reduce the safe distances to combustible materials that you need to provide at the rear. If you’re installing with a rear flue then we suggest that you should invest in the cast iron cooking plate for the top of your Island I. That way you can rustle of some tasty hot food at the same time as warming your room. Baked potatoes or heartwarming stews can simply be on hand any time of the day you use your stove and they won’t cost you a penny more. The Island I also has direct external air supply capability when the optional air kit is specified making it a great choice for post-2008 homes which otherwise would require a draughty dedicated air vent to be installed in order to comply with building regulations.

You can choose your Charnwood Island I with the standard low leg, or to make an even stronger visual statement you can opt for the elegant higher leg model or perhaps the useful store stand model with its handy space for logs. There’s also a selection of eight tasteful designer colours to further complement your home’s interior.
