Ecodesign is EU legislation aimed at lowering emissions and improving air quality and is due to come into force for wood burning stoves in the UK in 2022. Manufacturers in the Stove Industry alliance (SIA) have recently been developing stoves that will meet the strict emission limits five years ahead of schedule and these will be branded with the SIA Ecodesign Ready label.
At The Stove Yard, you’d expect us to love our wood, but it has to be said that we love our living trees and woodlands even more, for apart from being great at absorbing harmful greenhouse gas where else would we eventually get the wood we fire up our stoves with? Last week was the European stove industry's big 5-day stove-fest in Frankfurt (ISH) and naturally the Stove Yard was there. As you'd expect it was an extremely busy affair and there were a number of major British and Irish players represented – but only as visitors.
