DOVRE Sense 203 Wood Burning Stove

DOVRE SENSE 203 WOOD BURNING STOVE

The Sense 203 is a stunning example of the stove maker's art. Design, form and function all come together perfectly to create an exceptional contemporary styled clean burning wood stove that will easily become the focal point of any living space. An abundance of subtle curves are the hallmarks of Dovre's unique all-cast iron Sense range with the elegantly proportioned 203 being the tallest of the three Sense models.

The Sense 203 has the same low emissions fire box and large front and side windows that are featured on the 103 and 113 models but with the addition of an integral closed-fronted log box which can be loaded from both sides. This allows the 203's gentle curving lines to be carried all the way through from the lid to the base with the minimum visual disruption. This is further enhanced by the discreet user-friendly push-button door handle being placed at the side of the stove and the single slider control, which manages the combustion air mix, being set virtually flush within the front.

Dovre are probably the last of the European stove makers to produce their stoves with the all-cast iron construction method which has been tried and tested for centuries. Cast iron not only makes a longer lasting stove but also creates a tremendous heat sink which will exude heat long after the fire has gone out. The Sense 203 has 125kg (over 19 stone) of it, which is an indication of the outstanding build quality that have made Dovre a leading premium quality stove maker since the 60s.

Modern stoves are all about efficiency and low emissions and the Sense 203 achieves an exceptional balance of both with efficiency just below 80% and clean burning technology incorporating pre-heated tertiary air for superior post combustion that will help keep emissions to a minimum. There's a full width door which allows total access to the fire chamber to load larger than average logs of 330mm (13"). An open grate and removable ash pan will also make cleaning easier.

Direct external air supply capability is standard which will make the Sense 203 an excellent choice for a modern low energy home and it can be also used in a smoke control area once the optional Defra Smoke Exempt Kit is fitted. A highly recommended optional easy-fit rear heat shield is also available to help reduce the safe minimum distances to combustible materials at the back of the stove. In addition, the top flue outlet is just 50mm from the very back of the Sense 203, which itself only has a depth of 375mm, so that when it is installed with twin wall connecting pipe, combined with the rear heat shield, this can also significantly reduce the overall footprint the stove and hearth will need to comply with building regulations.

NB White and Grey Enamel Sense 203 models have now been discontinued by Dovre
