Big Green Egg Demo Day 2026 at The Stove Yard

The Big Green Egg Demo Day is coming to The Stove Yard, and we've got someone special behind the grill.

On 2nd May 2026 (starting at 10am), we're hosting a live cooking demonstration with Jasper Castel, private dining chef and local food figure best known as co-owner of The Boathouse Restaurant in Bangor. Jasper will be cooking on the Big Green Egg throughout the day — expect proper food, real fire, and a few things you probably haven't tried on a BBQ before.

If you've been curious about the Big Green Egg but never understood what the fuss is about, this is your chance to taste the difference for yourself. Jasper will be demonstrating what the EGG does that a conventional barbecue simply can't: low and slow smoking, high-heat searing, wood-fired baking — all on one piece of kit.

The Big Green Egg isn't just a barbecue. It's a ceramic kamado cooker capable of reaching temperatures from 70°C all the way up to 350°C, which means it handles everything from a 12-hour smoked brisket to a pizza cooked in three minutes. The thick ceramic walls hold and distribute heat evenly, and the airflow control is precise enough to hold a temperature within a few degrees for hours on end. Once you've used one, a standard gas barbecue feels like a step backwards.
