Flexible Flue Liner and Chimney Liner

At The Stove Yard, in Cheshire and County Down Northern Ireland, we only sell best quality, best value, flexible flue liner and chimney liner for your stove from recognised British flue liner manufacturers who offer us, and you, genuine guarantees on their products. Our chimney liners and flexible flue liners conform to the requirements of the UK's Building Regulations Document J and are also Hetas approved.

We sell two grades of class 1 flexible flue and chimney liner suitable for solid fuel operation. 316 flue liner and 904 flue liner. The difference in the grades is in the thickness of the stainless steel layers within the steel. The 316 grade is suitable for most domestic wood burning stoves applications with the exception of multi fuel stoves and multi fuel boiler stoves which will be primarily used to burn coal and where there is likely to be a higher production of acidic condensates, especially in 'slumber' mode. In such instances we would always recommend the thicker, more resilient, 904 grade flexi. 316 would still be suitable where there is the occasional use of coal and the stove is also a non-boiler multi fuel stove. The Stove Yard's flexible chimney and flue liners carry a manufacturer's guarantee of 10 years on the 316 flexible liner and 20 years on the 904 flexible liner.
Most of the premier brands of stoves will only guarantee or offer the extended Guarantee when the stoves are correctly fitted with Flexible liner.  For example Morso Stoves will offer their full 10 year guarantee with their cast iron stoves fitted in conjunction with a Flexible Flue Liner.  To correctly fit a stove in accordance to Approved Document J in Engalnd and Wales or Technical Booklet L in Northern Ireland a flexible liner must be used inside an existing liner.
An open fire can burn at 10k/w with a 20% efficiency - meaning 8k/w of heat energy is keeping the 8" clay liner chimney warm and keeping the flue gases rising.  In comparison a modern 5k/w multi-fuel stove such as the Precision 1 is 84.3% efficient meaning only losing 785 watts (0.785k/w) to the chimney, this is not enough heat to keep flue gases rising in a cold masonary chimney or a cold 8" clay lined chimney.  This is only one of the Many reasons why we want to re-line a chimney with a smaller diametre flexible liner and back fill this with Vermiculite insulation.
