The All New Island I is the smallest stove in the Island collection.
This is the new and much improved mark II version of the already excellent double-door multi fuel stove by Charnwood, Britain's best and busiest stove maker. The subtle curved exterior detailing and well-balanced proportions might look more or less the same (in fact, they've been tweaked to make its windows over a third larger) however, inside this classic stove is some brand new combustion technology, with SIA Ecodesign Ready credentials, class-leading 85% A+ efficiency and ultra-low emissions, which is streets ahead of any other British-made stove – except perhaps for its sister stove, the 5kW Charnwood Skye with 86% efficiency.
Not only is the new Defra approved Island 1 an extremely attractive and easy to operate stove with its single control, above all else it's the cleanest burning stove Charnwood have ever made. One that has been specifically created to minimise the amount of emissions it produces, making it just about as friendly a stove as can be in terms of its impact on air quality. This is a stove which is at the cutting edge of stove development and will operate well below the Defra and the even tougher 2022 Ecodesign emissions limits. It is in fact the kind of stove that both Defra and the Mayor of London are very happy to see replacing inefficient emissions-producing open fires and old stoves in urban areas.
If you're looking for a stove with a big visual presence which will look at home in a big fireplace opening, whether for a traditional or contemporary room space, and one that also has a more than enough controllable heat for a typical-sized UK room, then the all new Island 1 should be at the very top of your list. As in the older version the twin door locking mechanism is very user friendly (which is more than can be said for a lot of double door stoves) and can be securely closed with just one (gloved) hand. It will easily take 16" (400mm) logs and is also suitable for placing on a 12mm hearth (subject to building regulations). The new Island 1 is available in three different heights – low or high leg and handy store stand, as well as a choice of eight coloured paint finishes. So, another winner from Charnwood!
