09.10.14 Affordable Warmth Scheme

A comprehensive mapping exercise of fuel poverty conducted by the University of Ulster has identified some 33,000 homes in Northern Ireland in most need. Under the new Affordable Warmth Scheme households which spend 25% or more of their income on heating and energy costs will be entitled to undergo energy efficiency improvements such as cavity wall insulation, draught proofing, new boiler installation and repairing or replacing ineffective window frames.
