And in a Smoke Control Area too – proper anarchy in the UK. £5 million worth of punk memorabilia has been burned on a barge on the Thames in protest by the multi-millionaire son of the Sex Pistols' manager Malcolm McLaren and fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. Joe Corré, founder of the lingerie company Agent Provocateur, said that the bonfire was to highlight punk's commercialisation over the last 40 years and was in protest at plans for a 40th anniversary programme of events, gigs and exhibitions called Punk London. A bit of a 'bonfire of the profanities' then and an excellent own-goal to promote Punk London. Sid would be so proud.
