Sounds like an old black and white B-movie script but it's true and they even have what scientists are calling, their own Wood Wide Web. Using a fungal network they actually talk to each other (moss code?), share nutrients and trade sugars. They can even wage war by releasing toxic chemicals to kill off rivals. If they ever start talking about us then perhaps we should get worried. Especially if you're a wood burning stove owner – no doubt you'll be first on their list.
