The home of Irish rugby, the Aviva Stadium Lansdowne Road, will be fully powered by renewable energy for Ireland's Six Nations game against France next Saturday – the first in the competition. It won't be just the jerseys, the seats and the pitch which will be green because this time all of the energy used at the stadium will be supplied by SSE Airtricity, Ireland’s biggest wind power provider. The switch is expected to save almost 2,500 tonnes of carbon emissions in the first year alone.
