Provisional data from the UK's Met Office (so glad they shortened it to 'Met', could never say the long version and just about spell it) confirms what we've all been thinking – it's been very wet and it's been very warm in the run up to Christmas:
• 4.1ºC above average temperatures
• 176% above average rainfall
• 67% above average sunshine hours

North West England, Wales and Scotland had the wettest December in over a century with Scotland recording a staggering 13" of rain.
