28.10.14 Power cuts on way?

As predicted the National Grid has warned of much lower spare power capacity this winter – estimated at a seven year low at around 4% compared to 17% margin just three years ago. This is because of a number of inefficient generator closures as well as nuclear plant breakdowns. They're saying everything is going to be hunky dory and we have absolutely nothing to worry about. Anyway if it's necessary, they also say, we could always import more liquefied natural gas from elsewhere (probably our Russian friends), but this would cost us more and could have implications for household bills. So we say: better investigate investing in some sexy new thermals or that wood burning stove you've always wanted...
