28.09.17 The greenest ever summer...

Not because it's also been one of our wettest (probably that too) but because, according to the National Grid, over half of all the energy that we used during the summer in the UK came from low carbon and renewable sources – and that's not counting those miserable evenings when some of us resorted to cranking up the wood burner to bring a bit of cheer into our homes. The figure for the same period (21 June and 22 September) four years ago was just 35%. It's also worth remembering that the generation of this summer's 52% green energy has been achieved without Hinkley Point nuclear power...
