Saltfire Scout

Saltfire Scout 4.1kW Multi Fuel Stove

The Scout is Saltfire's newest stove and offers anyone looking for a compact wood burning and multi fuel stove with good controllable heat output an irresistible value-for-money state-of-the-art package that's simply hard to beat. There are two versions the Low and the Tall with its integral Log Store.

The Scout's biggest plus will be that because it features factory-fitted rear and base heat shields as standard, as well as a fully vermiculite lined fire chamber, it can significantly reduce the safe distances to combustible materials (it's just 100mm at the rear!) compared to other small stoves. This makes it a great choice for temporary structures such as garden offices, shepherds huts and cabins. It's also suitable for installation on a 12mm decorative hearth (subject to Building Regulations). Saltfire also state that the Scout has been specifically designed to safely fit inside a standard 16" (406mm) wide fireplace opening and that clearances of less than 50mm (2") at the sides are acceptable to them and won't invalidate the 5-Year manufacturer's warranty. All you have to do is figure out how you can practically fit the flue pipe (and any external air ducting) as well as provide suitable access for cleaning.

Being an all-new stove means that the Scout has been designed from scratch to meet the tough 2022 Ecodesign emissions limits – in fact it achieves an excellent level 4 rating in the independently verified ClearSkies Mark emission scheme. It's also Defra
Approved to allow you to burn wood in Smoke Control Areas and with its separate
push-pull primary and secondary air controls and externally riddled multi fuel grate (that's the knob at the side) it also offers you the flexibility of burning approved smokeless coal products should you need to. Cleaner burning is continuously aided by a constant supply of Tertiary Combustion Air.

Nominal output is a generous 4.1kW with a heat range starting at a practical 2kW and going up to 5kW (depending on fuel load) which should be more than enough for today's average well-insulated living space. With low energy homes in mind the Scout also features direct external air supply (DEAS) compatibility when the optional Direct Air Box is specified. This can be simply retro-fitted by your installer.

Be in no doubt the Scout is as sophisticated as a radiant stove currently gets and along with its exceptional build quality and subtle contemporary design lines it's not short on good looks either so that, with its bigger than average window, it will also look great in any style of fireplace or room interior. The Saltfire Scout Low and Tall models certainly make a very welcome addition to the compact stove category, especially since unusually they feature optional DEAS, and with their very keen price and everything else that they have to offer there's no doubt in our minds that they're quickly going to be among The Stove Yard's very best selling stoves.
