Woody 5kW Slimline Stove

Chilli Penguin's Woody makes a great choice if you're looking for a 5kW stove with a wide body and a large landscape picture window with which to create a strong focal point in a sizeable fireplace opening, but without overcooking yourself. The Woody makes a welcome addition to this niche market and in our view compares very favourably with its two main rivals – the benchmark traditionally styled Esse 100 and the classic Dunsley 5 Slimline. For a start at up to 87% the Woody is more efficient than its rivals (this is obviously helped by pre-heated tertiary which the others don't have) and critically it is only 285mm deep, making it one of the slimmest stoves that we know of, let alone for a wide bodied stove.

Clean simple lines are the hallmark of all Chilli Billie stoves and the Woody is no exception which means that it will work equally well in a traditional or contemporary setting. Add the optional plinth base (store stand) which will increase the Woody's height by 196mm to 756mm (approx 30") or choose one of five modern colours (plus traditional black) and you have a British made stove which will not only make a striking addition to your home but one which also has the abundant controllable heat to put an end to the very worst cold winter nights.

The Defra Approved Woody is precision built to order from quality materials and comes with a 7 year manufacturer's warranty. The fire chamber takes 460mm (17") logs and features Chilli Penguin's highly efficient clean burn combustion system which incorporates an effective full-width airwash to help keep the whole glass clean. Precise control over the burn rate and flame pattern is via the twin push / pull controls for primary and secondary air at the base of the stove and there's an additional booster control on the door which is used to maximise combustion air supply to aid faster fire lighting. An optional draught-reducing Direct External Air Supply (DEAS) kit is available for highly insulated houses or for installations where there's also some form of mechanical ventilation in operation.
